ACT River System Information on Water Levels
In accordance with Section 7-11 of the ACT Master Water Control Manual dated May 2015, full navigation channel availability on the Alabama River is dependent upon seasonal flow conditions and channel maintenance. Due to higher flows in winter and spring, channel availability is higher during the
months of December through May.
Currently, a 16.9ft foot tailwater elevation near Claiborne Lock is required to provide a 9-foot channel on the Alabama River to Montgomery, AL. Tailwater elevations near Claiborne Lock are updated daily and can be viewed at:

Commercial mariners should check water levels daily and schedule lockage appointments by calling the Claiborne Lock Supervisor at (251) 282-4575. Navigation Bulletins will be issued on an as-needed basis throughout the navigation season.
Please direct any questions to Ashley Kleinschrodt at (251) 694-3726.
