ACBL: Mainline Vessel Cook (Jeffersonville, IN; Paducah, KY; Memphis, TN; St. Louis, MO)

American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) has four (4) Mainline Vessel Cook positions available to fill.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to remain on vessel for 28 day rotating assignments
  • Prepare meals in conformance with Company nutrition standards
  • Order sufficient quantities to support the crew’s nutritional requirements
  • Work closely with vessel master to ensure vessel budgets are maintained
  • Maintain the galley and all its utensils and equipment in accordance with Company sanitation requirements in all areas that are used for food storage
  • Conduct job briefings with self and other crew (as needed) prior to starting a new task / galley crew change
  • Use proper lifting techniques
  • Wear hair net while working in the galley
  • Keep galley cabinets, shelves and pantry neat, orderly and clean

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
ServeSafe Certification before orientation

Specific Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have minimum 3 years professional cooking experience with another maritime towing company
  • Must be ServSafe Certified
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety and work related instructions. Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to plan extended menus and order appropriate supplies within budgetary requirements
  • Ability to live on a vessel for a rotation of at least 28 days
  •  TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) by time of interview/or receipt at interview
