Channel Maintenance Dredging Update 3 January 2023 USACE Dredge Jadwin UMR Mile 42-38

Notice Number: 201812/23-01
Date: 01/04/2023 06:00 thru 01/20/2023 23:59

Commencing on 04 January 2023, the US Army Corps of Engineers Dredge Jadwin will perform channel maintenance dredging at mile 42 Upper Mississippi River, with following assignments at mile 39.8 and 38.0 UMR.

In coordination with the USCG and RIAC the river will be closed daily for safe and efficient dredging operations from 0600 to 1800 hours. The river will be open for navigation, passing the Dredge Jadwin, from 1800 to 0600 hours.

The anticipated dredge schedule is as follows:

Mile 42 UMR: 4 - 11 January 2023.

Mile 39.8 UMR: 12 - 16 January 2023

Mile 38.0 UMR: 17 - 18 January 2023

The Dredge Jadwin and its attendant plant, to include tender boats, small boats, barges and pipeline, etc., work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When dredging, removed material is pumped through a pontoon pipeline, which may be crossing the channel, and is placed outside of the navigation channel. Mariners should be on the lookout for tender boats, barges, small survey boats, and pipeline when transiting the dredge area.

The Dredge Jadwin may be contacted on VHF-FM radio channels 13 and 16. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made with the Dredge Jadwin.
