Channel Maintenance Dredging, Winfield Locks and Dam, Kanawha River, Mile 31.1

Notice is given that on or about 25 September 2023, Amherst Madison, Inc., contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, will commence channel maintenance dredging in the lower approach at the Winfield Locks and Dam, Kanawha River, Mile 31.1.

The contractor's floating plant will consist of the M/V KEITH BLOUNT, M/V BUS BROWN, two barge mounted cranes, and three material barges. The vessels will be monitoring channel 13 and should be contacted for passing arrangements. Dredging will be performed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. midnight, seven days a week. The work is anticipated to be completed on or about 29 September 2023. The dredge material will be placed in the permitted in-water placement area, downstream of the dam.

The contractor's floating plant will be moored at the worksite during non-working hours and will be lighted according to regulations.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
