ACCELERATE YOUR CAREER!!  Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) is a full-service engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, and is seeking an experienced civil engineer to work directly with others to formulate engineering design of multi-faceted projects.  The projects associated with this position vary but are all civil-related, including but not limited to initial site evaluation, site due diligence, site layout, grading & drainage, permitting, storm water pollution prevention (SWPPP), and utility services, etc.

The successful candidate will assist on a wide variety of engineering projects working closely with other engineers, architects, and project managers in planning, design, construction, coordination, and execution of complex projects while maintaining conformance with engineering standards, established practices, and applicable codes.  Responsibilities will include performing duties such as terrain modeling, earthwork analysis, site utility conveyance and permitting, hydrologic & hydraulic analysis and design, storm water detention and water quality modeling and design, design and preparation of storm water pollution prevention plans, as well as complete preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications for roadway and site infrastructure projects. Candidate shall have the ability to work in a team environment involving multiple engineering disciplines including assistance with client management and operations.  This role will require strong organizational & communication skills as work tasks widely vary and may also include design, report writing, field investigations, cost estimating, construction observation, attendance at client meetings and overnight travel to project sites.  This is a position for an exceptional individual ready to begin the next stage of their professional career with CMT and includes various opportunities for advancement and increased management of projects based upon demonstrated capabilities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • FE certification with the ability to obtain a PE certification
  • Strong technical skills to include experience with Microsoft Office products with exposure to computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple competing deadlines
  • Ability to accept periodic out of town travel assignments and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in the field as needed
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred qualifications:

  • A professional engineer’s license, a person in the process of obtaining a license, or plan to obtain a license is preferred
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in site development and drainage
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
