Cleaning Dock Manager (Finley, TN)

J.F. Brennan Company is accepting applications for a Cleaning Dock Manager in Finley, TN.

The Cleaning Dock Manager oversees the activities of the cleaning dock, manages the cleaning crew, and ensures the maintenance of equipment.  These barges are cleaned with the use of crane, brooms, shovels, scrapers, sledgehammers, pressure and trash pumps, jackhammers, and other tools as needed.

Cleaning Dock Manager Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to lead and supervise a crew to complete heavy physical labor safely
  • Assists in the hiring and training of new employees
  • Oversees the daily workflow and assignments for each crew member
  • Responsible for working under the guidance of the BMI Harbor Operating Procedures manual and your supervisor
  • Responsible for the following of all company policy such as the Periodic Safety Meeting Policy and Issues, schedules, and any other issues
  • Responsible for maintaining the work site, moorings, and equipment
  • Responsible for knowing how to operate and maintain all equipment utilized
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding all State and Federal regulations regarding barge-cleaning procedures
  • Inspecting all barges during the cleaning process for damages and notifying the supervisor of the same
  • Assist the vessel crew during down time
  • Responsible for securing all equipment daily and maintaining the cleanliness of the work site
  • Any other duties as assigned

Cleaning Dock Manager Qualifications:

  • Prior history of completing heavy manual labor required and supervisory experience preferred
  • CCO License with applicable endorsement preferred
  • Understanding of all applicable OSHA, MSHA and State regulations and guidelines that pertain to your work, work area, and work environment.
  • Know the requirements for confined spaces entry, Shipyard Competent Person criteria and requirements, and all other safety rules and regulations as outlines in a weekly safety training meeting. For example, life vests must be worn anytime you are on or near the water. Hardhat and safety glasses are always required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, on computers and other electronic devices
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter, highly organized, and creative
  • Superior time management and organizational capabilities, including the ability to accurately benchmark project length, deliver on deadlines
