CONSTRUCTION OF NEW STEEL PLATE MILL & ASSOCIATED BARGE TERMINAL ORM 644.7

Notice is given that “Nucor Steel” is currently constructing a new steel plate mill and associated barge terminal on the Ohio River, in Mead County, Kentucky. Nucor will work on the dock construction at ORM 644.7 July 1 through August 12, 2022.

The contractor’s equipment will consist of sheet piles and will be driven both from shore-based cranes and a crane barge. The crane barge will be maneuvered into place using a towboat and will be secured in place with spud piles.

Offloading operations will occur during daylight hours. During non-work hours, delivery barges and associated equipment will be secured at approved mooring locations upstream or downstream from the site. Construction will occur during daylight hours seven days a week. During non-work hours equipment will be parked on shore. Channel 13 will be monitored for river traffic. Channels 6, 8, 18 and 72 will also be monitored.
