Current Ninth District Bridge Maintenance/Activities for May 18

Good morning,

Please find this week’s bridge maintenance and activities summary and the delay report attached to this email.

Navigation lights are there to aid the mariners and to some extent limit the liability of the bridge owners and are required under 33 CFR 118.  Mariners should report lighting discrepancies to the nearest Coast Guard Unit but we would appreciate an email so we can follow up with the bridge owner and get things fixed.  This might be the first case of “If you don’t see anything, report it.”

Bridge navigation lights do not need to be on by day when the visibility is greater than 2,000 yards.

PRO TIP: Read the Bridge Maintenance List BEFORE heading out on your annual inspection.
