Please take note of the following reports regarding shoaling in the Houston-Galveston Vessel Traffic Service Area, including the completion of emergent dredging operations in the Bayport Channel.  

- BAYPORT SHIP CHANNEL SHOALING: USACE has completed emergent dredging in the Bayport Ship Channel, restoring channel depths to authorized limits.  VTS rescinds the Directive of 19 MAY 2023 restricting traffic of 43 feet and greater.

- GALVESTON HARBOR SHOALING: Shoaling is reported to reducing depths in the Galveston Harbor Channel to approximately 40 feet. This report has been correlated with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) dredging stations 2+400 to 4+600.

Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston Directs:

(1)Vessels with 38 feet or greater draft to avoid the green side of the channel in this area.

(2) No meeting or overtaking of any vessel with draft of 38 feet or greater between Galveston Channel Lighted Buoy 1 and Galveston Light 3.

- BOLIVAR GIWW SHOALING: Shoaling to 10 feet is reported in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) at Bolivar Peninsula on the red side from approximately Mile Marker 348.5 to 349.5. This report corelates between Bolivar Peninsula Light 14 to Bolivar Peninsula Virtual Aid ATON 22. Mariners are reminded to utilize their Electronic Chart Display Information Systems (ECDIS) to confirm their position in the GIWW and not to rely solely on visual aids to navigation for safe transit.

Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston Directs:

(1) No meeting or overtaking between Bolivar Peninsula Light 14 and Virtual AIS ATON 22.
