Dredging: Houston Ship Channel, Chambers County, TX

Hopper Dredge “Liberty Island” (contractor, Great Lakes Dredging & Dock Co. “GLDD”) is dredging in the Houston Ship Channel between Lighted Buoy 76 and 78 and the Bayport Ship Channel Flare between Lighted Buoys B and 4. Dredge Liberty Island and crew boat will be used in/around this work area. Dredge material will be placed in ODMDS Area No. 1, located adjacent to the south side of the Galveston Entrance Channel between Lighted Buoy 3 and Lighted Buoy 1A. Expected completion date of March 3, 2023.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
Communications is to be accomplished via VHF Channel 13, 21a, and 76. The Traffic Center guards Channel 13 on a 24-hour basis. Respective dredge(s) should be contacted for coordination of passing and movement near operations.
