Dredging – McAlpine – ORM 607

Notice is given that “Luhrs Bros., Inc” will commence maintenance dredging in the Portland Bar/lower approach at McAlpine Locks and Dam. Approximate dates for this dredging and impacts to traffic will be as follows:

10-17 July 2023: Dredging operations will be conducted 24 hours per day, seven days per week. During this period, the Dredge Bill Holman will be in the navigation channel and the disposal pipeline may be crossing the navigation channel, requiring the disposal pipeline to be opened for passing traffic.

17-19 July 2023: The Ohio River will be closed to traffic for two 12-hour periods, 1800-0600 ET, to allow dredging operations to be uninterrupted during these times. The river will be open to traffic 0600-1800 ET.

Contact the Dredge Bill Holman for passing instruction on marine channel 13. Once contact has been made with the Dredge Bill Holman, proceed at the slowest safe speed.

The contractor’s floating plant will consist of the Dredge Bill Holman, M/V’s LENARD and BUDDY, and the ROBERT T, one shop barge, one spill barge, and floating pipeline section. The Dredge Bill Holman, M/V’s LENARD and BUDDY will be monitoring marine channel 13.
