Dredging Operations: Atchafalaya River, Stout’s Pass and Berwick Bay Harbor

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 22-111, dated 13 September 2022, stating that the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge CAPTAIN FRANK will perform dredging operations at Stout’s Pass, between Mile 113 and Mile 116 of the Atchafalaya River, through 16 September 2022.

MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE DREDGING OPERATIONS AT STOUT’S PASS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 18 SEPTEMBER 2022.

UPON THE COMPLETION OF STOUT’S PASS, THE DREDGE WILL MOVE TO BERWICK BAY HARBOR AND WORK UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 27 SEPTEMBER 2022, FROM APPROXIMATELY MILE 120 TO MILE 121.5 OF THE ATCHAFALAYA RIVER.

THE CONTRACTOR WILL WORK 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK, AND WILL PLACE DREDGED MATERIAL THROUGH A COMBINATION OF FLOATING AND SUBMERGED PIPELINES ON THE BERWICK SIDE OF THE HARBOR, OR IN THE DEEP CHANNEL ALONG THE LEFT DESCENDING BANK AT APPROXIMATELY MILE 119.5 OF THE ATCHAFALAYA RIVER.

Mariners should contact the dredge on VHF marine channels 13 and 16 for sailing instructions. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
