Dredging Operations: Mississippi River Mile 63.5-65.5 AHP Saltwater Barrier Sill

Commencing on about 22 September 2023 and continuing until approximately 31 October 2023, the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge JS CHATRY and attendant plant will be working in the Mississippi River from approximate mile 63.5 to mile 65.25 Above Head of Passes (AHP).

The Dredge will be located in a borrow area on the Right Descending Bank (RDB) side of the river. Dredged material will be transported using floating and submerged pipelines and be discharged from a barge to construct an underwater sill across the width of the river at approximate mile 63.8 AHP.

The Dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached on VHF Marine Channels 67 and 71. Any necessary navigation restrictions will be issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
