Dredging Operations: OLMSTED LOCKS AND DAM, OHIO RIVER MILE 964.4

Notice Number: 2023-017
Date: June 20 thru June 21

Notice is given that CJ Mahan will be performing navigation channel maintenance dredging for the Louisville District US Army Corps of Engineers at Ohio River Mile 964.4, Olmsted Locks and Dam Lower Approach. The schedule will be as follows:

Both lock chambers will be closed from 0700 – 1900 CT on June 20, 2023 and June 21, 2023 while the contractor dredges the lower approach of the locks. During this time the land chamber will be available to light boats and pleasure craft only. Floating plant will be moored away from the channel during after-hours so that navigation traffic is unaffected outside of the hours of operation.

The contractor’s floating plant will consist of an excavator barge, two dump scow barges, and the M/V Christine Elaine. The contractor will be working at the lower end of the river chamber approach wall.

Mariners should exercise caution when transiting the area and take all direction from Olmsted Lock on marine channel 13.
