Elevated Water Levels and Strong Currents on Tombigbee Waterway
Notice is given to mariners to exercise extreme caution when transiting near the upper approach to Coffeeville Lock (b/t River Miles 117-118). Elevated water levels and heavy currents on the upstream side of spillway creates extreme outdraft conditions which can pull vessels into the cut toward the spillway. Vessels should use extreme caution on exiting the lock going northbound, and entering the lock going southbound.
Plan for outdraft conditions and act accordingly. Please call the Lock for current river conditions (251-276-3293).
