Responsibilities Include

Qualifications

  • High School degree/GED required. Bachelors degree or above preferred.
  • 7 to 14 years of direct experience in areas noted above and a strong ecological background.
  • Experience working as an environmental planner, permitting specialist, ecologist, wetland biologist, or similar in the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Must be able to periodically support or conduct field work as needed.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Certification as a WSDOT Biological Assessment author preferred.
  • Wetland training, such as the University of Washingtons Certificate in Wetland Science and Management or similar preferred.
  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS to create, import/export, and managing spatial data highly desirable.

Level Placement

Typically, depending on an applicants education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, a Mid-Level Environmental Planner typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Senior Professional I, II, or III level.
