Environmental Technician I (Nashville, TN)

General Responsibilities:
Performs hazardous materials surveys and indoor air quality assessments including testing and sampling of asbestos building materials, lead paint, mold and air. Assists with tabulating data and preparing written reports. May assist with overseeing abatement projects and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Operates, cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment field monitoring equipment. Adheres to strict safety standards.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Performs testing and sampling as directed using well-defined procedures
  • Obtains and maintains licenses/training
  • Prepares written technical repots
  • Assists in basic survey/ measurement data
  • Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
  • Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No minimum experience requirements; however, experienced asbestos inspector preferred. Relevant experience and training will influence compensation.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications:
Asbestos Inspector or Asbestos Project Monitor. Other environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
