The Hopper Dredge, “Terrapin Island” (Great Lakes Dredge & Dock), will begin dredging operations in the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Jetty and Entrance Channel on or around May 9, 2022.

Dredging vicinity coordinates are as follow:
26°03’56” N 97°09’45” W TO 26°03’56” N 97°07’55” W

This work is currently scheduled to be completed by early June 2022.

The contractor’s related floating plant, including barges, tugs crew boats, survey boat, and skiffs, and submerged and floating pipeline will be used in and around these work areas. Dredged material will be deposited in Nearshore Berm PA 1A/1B, at Brazos Island Harbor, north jetty side.

  • Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. If possible, the dredge has requested barge traffic pass in single wide configuration only.
  • Dredging operations are continuous, 24/7.
  • Dredges monitor channels 13 and 16 on marine VHF radio. Dredge should be contacted to coordinate the passing of commerce.
  • Commercial Mariners are urged to give the dredge at least 60 minutes advance notice of passing the dredge.
