Great Bridge Lock – Temporary Operating Schedule

**This MSIB cancels/replaces MSIB 148-23**

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report the following: Due to an electrical infrastructure malfunction at the Great Bridge facility, the lock is being operated on generator power.

Starting April 14, 2023, and until permanent repairs can be made, single lockings will only occur four times per day on a first come, first serve basis. The times of the lockings are as follows: 0800, 1100, 1400 & 1700.

Vessels drafting less than 6 feet are encouraged to utilize the Dismal Swamp Canal for transit. All attempts will be made to reduce the impacts to vessels transiting the Albermarle and Chesapeake Canal, however, minor delays should be anticipated.
