Overview:

As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile equipment (treaded tire forklift) used in various tasks that supports QSL America Operations. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues in heavy equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. You will be working with a variety of equipment, including forklifts, cranes, loaders, and other heavy machinery. This role also includes anticipating future business needs and having mobile equipment available for use at the appropriate location. The metrics used to measure job performance will be equipment availability, equipment utilization, and work order completion efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on heavy mobile equipment to identify any potential mechanical issues in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Performs equipment repairs in response to maintenance requests, in shop or in field locations
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatic, and electrical analysis systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electric and hydraulic schematics
  • Use specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer software to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Operates shop equipment including cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools, and tire servicing equipment
  • Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling and PPE
  • Works rotating shifts or weekends as required
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other mechanics and technicians when needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, equipment advancements, and repair techniques through training and self-study.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic or a similar role. 3 years (Preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems commonly found in heavy mobile equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex equipment issues.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Applicants must possess their own tools necessary to perform the duties of this position.

Required Skills:

  • Repairs heavy equipment, removing/replacing components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Performs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic analyses and diagnoses.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Skills:

  • Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
