IAMPE Offers Free Commissioners Tract
Through Inland Rivers, Ports & Terminals (IRPT), IAMPE is pleased to offer the Annual Commissioner’s Seminar for those attending the Annual Conference in Biloxi, MS.
The seminar is free for attendees of the full IRPT conference. The seminar will be held on Monday, October 18th from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Conference host hotel. A reception, dinner and port tour follow.
The Commissioner’s and Board Members Seminar is to orient the member of a sitting policy making body to the current trends in the public and private port sector. The 4- hour program focuses on current trends in the industry, duties and responsibilities of commission/board members and their staffs and prepare the leaders for strategic planning. The confidential forum allows the participant to openly discuss issues and ask questions regarding port activities. Our seminar leader will offer a neutral view of what works in ports and what doesn’t, and how changes in the industry may affect port activities.
The seminar is led by Capt. Jeff Monroe, MM, AMPE who is the Director of Education and Standards for the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives (IAMPE). A Master Mariner and Accredited Maritime Port Executive, he has completed over 85 port planning and development projects in the last decade and was the former Director for Ports and Transportation in Portland Maine and Deputy Port Director at the Massachusetts Port Authority in Boston. The IAMPE is the education partner of IRPT and also provides the Inland Maritime Port Executive program and certification for our members. Each participant is provided with 4 hours of CEU credits and a letter of completion.
Port managers and directors are also welcomed to attend.
