Ice Conditions Update Feb 1 2023
Attached are the changes to the ice condition status for all the locks. The biggest change from yesterday is that the ice finally caught up with Marseilles Lock, they are 100 percent ice above the chamber and needing helper boats to pull north bound cuts. All their floaters are now tied up.
Ice coverage above both Peoria and LaGrange has increased but no further changes for them in regards to operation.
The weather forecast is showing a warm up beginning Saturday and continuing throughout the ten day with daytime highs in the mid to upper 40’s and night time lows just dipping below freezing and slightly above. We just need to get through one more quick arctic blast on Friday before we begin the warm up. Hopefully we will see conditions only improve over the next week or so with no further additions to any ice restrictions at the locks.
