Illinois Waterway LaGrange Lock & Dam RM 80

A contractor will be conducting soil borings from floating plant at LaGrange Lock and Dam on the Illinois River, River Mile 80.0. Work is planned for 24 April through 12 May, 2023. Work will occur from 07:00-19:00 daily. These timeframes are subject to change based upon river conditions.

Soil boring will be conducted from a 40’ x 130’ spud barge and towboat. The m/v SAM B can be contacted on radio channels 13 & 16. Drilling is expected near shoreline and lock guidewalls during open pass and should not impede navigation. If the wicket dam is in operation (not open pass) the operation will relocate out of the lock approaches to remain out of the way of navigation. Four to six hours are required to move the floating plant if drilling is in progress.
