IRPT Members,
INTERCEM The World's Leading Cement Industry Conference is scheduled June 2-3, 2021 and we are excited to announce that Aimee Andres, IRPT Executive Director, Cindy Cutrera, Economic Development Manager, Port of Morgan City and IRPT Chairwoman of the Board and Evan Boudreux, St. Mary Parish Economic Development Director will be presenting on June 3rd, 10:30 – 11:30 am.
From Aimee Andres, IRPT Executive Director:
“I have presented at Intercem for the past few years and I am here to tell you that this is one of the best events to attract international business at U.S. ports and terminals. As you may know, the U.S. is a net importer of cement, aggregate and clinker.
At the 2019 show I presented at in Houston, I bragged on the IRPT Members facilities by showing the map of all U.S. locations (accessed here: https://www.irpt.net/river-basins/). What I found most interesting after my presentation and left the stage, was that owners of foreign cargo importing into the U.S. were very interested in establishing operations here in the U.S. So essentially, they would be shipping their cargo from their overseas operations into their own U.S. operations instead of using a third parties’ operations. This to me not only signifies a huge development opportunity for U.S. Gulf ports to attract new lease tenants of foreign owned cargo, but it also can increase profitability for those entities.”
Thursday, June 3 10:30-11:30 central time (via zoom)

The USA is one of the world’s biggest cement importers and with the Biden administration announcing a $2 trillion infrastructure plan to ‘Rebuild the backbone of America’ the North American market, which is already experiencing high demand in areas like Texas, Florida, California and parts of the East Coast, is likely to be looking overseas to meet the supply/demand gap for both the short and medium-term.
In this series of webinars, we will hear from leading experts in both the cement and shipping industries, as we bring you up to date on America’s booming import market. The program includes insight and analysis on the US market from PCA; global cement markets from On Field Investment Research, plus freight rates, shipping routes, ports and terminals infrastructure, Great Lakes shipping, inland waterways and much, much more.
