Southern Towing Company is accepting applications for a Manager, Strategic Initiatives & Change Management in Houston, TX.

Manager, Strategic Initiatives & Change Management

Southern Devall is in the middle of an exciting time, and our plans to fully integrate our two industry-leading companies into a single new company, Southern Devall, are well underway! This role will be integral to the success of our integration by owning our change management and strategic development initiatives.

This role will encompass many projects and initiatives, but one of the most critical components of our integration and our vision for the future is maintaining a world-class training program. The first project for this role will be the redesign and integration of our existing training programs and facilities. Although there will be a heavy training project focus in the first few years, this is a project and change management role, not a training manager role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and assist with the design and development of strategic initiatives as directed by the Chief Operating Officer
  • Own strategic initiative budgeting and planning
  • Own the deployment of strategic initiatives
  • Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in leadership or change management.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, industry partners, and employees at all levels of the Company
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel; travel will be largely front-end loaded during the onboarding process with up to 60% travel required in the first few months. After the initial onboarding period, travel will reduce to ~15%.
  • Ability to embark inland towing vessels for multiple days at a time (during initial onboarding only)
  • Ability to safely board and move about barges and tow boats without physical assistance
  • Eligible for employment in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a TWIC.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: maritime industry (inland or offshore); curriculum development; corporate training programs; change management, chemical industry, energy industry

Experience in the following areas will help, but is not required:

  • Chemical handling, storage, or quality control
  • Licensed mariner—offshore or inland

This role is currently open to candidates who can work in, or are willing to relocate to, Houston, Texas. Remote work is not preferred but will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Relocation assistance is available.
