Mariners use caution: Brandon Road Lock
A southbound tow entering Brandon Road Lock struck the concrete protrusion between the upper left service gate recess and emergency gate recess damaging the concrete and wall armor cap. Contractor will be working to remove the damage today and we do not anticipate any delay in reopening the lock at 1800 as scheduled.
However with the contractor installing a temporary fix we want to advise all mariners to use caution when transiting that area to avoid further damage to the wall and barges alike.
Please advise tows making their approach, particularly down bound, to contact the lock for instructions to ensure safe passage.
This advisory will be put out in a nav notice for tonight and will last through 1 August at 0600. The duration may be shortened if the wall panel installation happens by the end of next week as scheduled.
