Mississippi River Deep Draft Crossing & Southwest Past (Update)

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 22-74, dated 27 June 2022, stating that the U.S. Government Contract Hopper Dredge GLENN EDWARDS will be working at the Mississippi River Deep Draft Crossings between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana, until further notice.

 

MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT BEGINNING AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 A.M. ON 26 JULY 2022 AND CONTINUING UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 2 AUGUST 2022, THE DREDGE GLENN EDWARDS WILL TEMPORARILY MOVE FROM WORKING AT THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER DEEP DRAFT CROSSINGS TO WORKING IN SOUTHWEST PASS FROM HEAD OF PASSES (MILE 0) TO APPROXIMATELY MILE 22 BELOW HEAD OF PASSES (BHP), AND IN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER FROM HEAD OF PASSES TO APPROXIMATELY MILE 13 ABOVE HEAD OF PASSES (AHP).

 

THE DREDGE WILL THEN RETURN TO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER DEEP DRAFT CROSSINGS BETWEEN BATON ROUGE AND NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, AND RESUME ITS DREDGING OPERATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

 

The dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will give way to vessels using the waterway. The dredge can be contacted on either VHF channel 16 or 67 for sailing instructions.

 

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
