Mississippi River-Subaqueous Stone Placement Mile 24.0 AHP RDB (Update)

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 23-53, dated 9 May 2023, stating that a U.S. Government Contractor will be placing subaqueous stone along the Left Descending Bank (LDB) of the Mississippi River at approximate Mile 24.0 Above Head of Passes (AHP) through approximately 15 June 2023.

MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE SUBAQUEOUS STONE PLACEMENT WORK ALONG THE LEFT DESCENDING BANK (LDB) OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AT APPROXIMATE MILE 24.0 ABOVE HEAD OF PASSES (AHP) WILL END ON OR ABOUT 31 MAY 2023.

THE CONTRACTOR WILL THEN BEGIN PLACING SUBAQUEOUS STONE ALONG THE RIGHT DESCENDING BANK (RDB) OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AT APPROXIMATE MILE 20.1 ABOVE HEAD OF PASSES (AHP) THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 9 JUNE 2023.

The Contractor will work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day, during daylight hours, and the plant will include an anchor barge with hydraulic backhoe. An office barge and various material barges will be on-site, staged along the river at this location.

During nighttime hours, the Contractor will be staged along the Right Descending Bank (RDB) out of the Mississippi River Channel. The M/V Jason Luhr can be contacted on VHF Marine Channels 13, 16 and 72.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
