Missouri River Update – 20Jan2026

See below and Just a note to add. Mitch reported bank ice and a few small pans floating at Nepoleon. ASB reported river is clear at Brunswick.

Stages at Sioux City, IA (RM 732) have still not rebounded to pre-ice jam stages and stages at upstream gages are still rising. Gavins Point releases will be maintained at 14,000 cfs and reassessed on Friday. Stages are still elevated but slowly receding on the Platte River near Louisville, NE and stages are still dropping at Nebraska City, NE (RM 562). The stage drop from the ice jam in the Gavins Point to Sioux City reach has reached Nebraska City, so it is difficult to tell how much more stages will drop at Nebraska City due to impacts from both ice jams showing up at that location. The total stage drop at Omaha, NE (RM 614) was approximately 2 feet and the stage has already dropped approximately 3 feet at Nebraska City.
