NAVIGATION BULLETIN NO. 22-82, 12 JULY 2022, MISSISSIPPI RIVER & SOUTHWEST PASS – JETTY AND FORESHORE DIKE REPAIRS (UPDATE)

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 22-16, dated 28 February 2022, stating that a U.S. Government Contractor will be repairing the jetty and foreshore dikes on the Right Descending Bank (RDB) and Left Descending Bank (LDB) of Southwest Pass from Head of Passes (mile 0) to mile -20.0 Below Head of Passes (BHP) through approximately 16 July 2022.

MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE JETTY AND FORESHORE DIKE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH 15 SEPTEMBER 2022.

THE M/V WARREN JR. HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH THE M/V CROSBY RAMBLER, AND CAN BE CONTACTED ON VHF MARINE CHANNELS 13, 16, AND 72.

The Contractor will work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day during daylight hours, and the plant will include anchor and spud barges with hydraulic backhoe or trackhoe. An office barge and various material barges will be on-site staged along the river at this location. During nighttime hours, the Contractor will be staged out of the Mississippi River Channel in the vicinity of the work site.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
