Mariners are advised that the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge CAPT. FRANK is currently working in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) at the Wax Lake Outlet intersection.
Once complete, the dredge will then work below Bayou Sorrel Lock on the Morgan City-Port Allen Alternate Route until approximately 14 January 2022.
The dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the dredged material will be deposited into deep water of Wax Lake Outlet and along the bank below Bayou Sorrel Lock.
The dredge will be monitoring VHF marine channels 16 and 72.
Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake after passing arrangements have been made, and when navigating in the vicinity of the dredging operations. The points of contact with the New Orleans District are Vic Landry at 504-862-2407 and Robert Swayze at 504-862-2060.
