SALTWATER BARRIER (UPDATE)

EFFECTIVE: 17 June thru 11 July, 2020
Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 20-84, dated 11 May 2020, stating that beginning on 1 June 2020 and continuing through 25 June 2020, the Calcasieu River Saltwater Barrier Structure will be closed to navigation due to gate replacement operations.
MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE GATE REPLACEMENT OPERATIONS HAVE BEEN DELAYED. THE FULL CLOSURE AT THE CALCASIEU RIVER SALTWATER BARRIER STRUCTURE WILL NOW BEGIN AT 7:00 A.M. ON 17 JUNE 2020 AND CONTINUE THROUGH 7:00 P.M. ON 11 JULY 2020.
The Calcasieu River Saltwater Barrier Structure is currently open to navigation in open pass mode only, and mariners are advised that if any vessels cannot safely navigate the structure without assistance, they should wait until conditions improve and they can do so, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers cannot assist them without gates in place.
