Navigation Notice: Snake River

AMENDMENT TO NAVIGATION NOTICE 16906, 22-03, LOWER MONUMENTAL AND LITTLE GOOSE
UPSTREAM FLOATING GUIDEWALL RESTRICTIONS

NOTICE NUMBER: 18109 / 22-03a
EFFECTIVE: 10/21/2021 06:30 thru 02/11/2022 17:00 PST

Until floating guide wall repairs are completed, vessels transiting the Lower Monumental and Little Goose navigation locks must use caution when operating near those the project’s upstream floating guide walls.

At Lower Monumental, vessels may not tie up to the floating guide wall.  Additionally, vessels may not rub against the floating guide wall when approaching or leaving the lock, nor should they use the guide wall as a pivot point for entering the lock.  Crew changes for commercial vessels may only take place within the lock chamber when the vessel is properly secured to floating mooring bits.

At Little Goose, vessels may not tie up to the floating guide wall.  Additionally, vessels may not rub against the floating guide wall when approaching or leaving the lock, nor may they use the guide wall as a pivot for entering the lock. Restrictions previously placed on use of the Little Goose floating guide wall are now lifted, as repairs to that asset are now completed.

PROJECTS AFFECTED:

Lower Monumental Lock and Dam - Snake River Mile 41.6

Little Goose Lock and Dam – Snake River Mile 70.3

These restrictions will remain in place until more substantial repairs can be made to the locks’ floating guide wall cables.  These repairs are planned for completion by March 11 February 2022.
