New Cumberland Locks and Dam, Ohio River Mile 54.4 – Primary Chamber Closure

1. TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Notice is given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will temporarily close the 110’ X 1200’ riverward primary chamber at New Cumberland Locks and Dam for an 8-hour period on approximately 3 separate days. These closures will occur sometime between 29 April 2024 and 31 May 2024.

The purpose of these closures is to support the Corps’ Repair Fleet who will be working in the 110’ X 600’ landward auxiliary chamber.

The landward auxiliary chamber remains closed due to structural deficiencies with the miter gates and will not be available during this closure period.

Upon re-opening, tows in queue will be locked in order of arrival.

2. DELAYS TO NAVIGATION:

Primary Chamber Closure - The Corps' Repair Fleet will occupy the primary chamber at New Cumberland Locks and Dam for approximately three (3) separate eight-hour periods sometime between 0:01 AM 29 April 2024 and 00:01 AM 31 May 2024.

This will result in a complete shutdown of navigation through the lock during these 8-hour periods.

Mariners are requested to monitor marine channel 13 for updates on the dates and times these closures will occur.
