SECTION I - SPECIAL NOTICES

This section contains information of special concern to the Marine

 

LAKE ERIE - Buffalo Harbor to Cleveland Harbor

Seasonal lighted buoys located in the ports of Buffalo Harbor, Erie Harbor, Ashtabula Harbor, and Cleveland Harbor will be decommissioned for the season approximately the week of 15 November, two weeks earlier than advertised in the light list.

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

ST LAWRENCE RIVER – NY- Clayton – Chart 14774

From 04 Oct through 08 Nov Weeks Marine will be conducting mechanical dredging in the Clayton French Creek marina from 0700 to 1900 daily. Vessels on scene can be contacted on VHF channel 16. All mariners are requested to transit the area with caution.

 

LAKE ERIE – OH – Cleveland Harbor – Chart 14839

Ryba Marine Construction Co. will be performing maintenance dredging in Cuyahoga River, Cleveland OH from 06 Oct through 14 Nov 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Tug Kathy Lynn can be contacted on VHF channels 13 and 16. All mariners are requested to transit the area with caution.

 

LAKE MICHIGAN – MI – Grand Haven – Chart 14933- Bridge Maintenance

From September 7, 2021 through October 31, 2021, one leaf of the U.S. Route 31 Bridge at Mile 2.89 over the Grand River will be secured to masted navigation and the other leaf will operate normally. Three barges 60-feet by 30-feet or smaller will be utilized at the bridge Monday through Saturday and will move if a 20-minute advance notice is provided on VHF-FM Marine Channel 16.

 

LAKE MICHIGAN – WI – Milwaukee Harbor – Chart 14924 – Bridge Regulation

The Coast Guard is altering the operating schedules of the bridges over the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic Rivers and Burnham Canals. This rule is effective October 27, 2021. LAKE MICHIGAN – IL – Calumet Harbor – Chart 14972 – Bridge Maintenance

From September 24 through October 8, 2021 between the hours of 0700 and 1530 Monday through Friday the 100th Street Bridge at Mile 1.78 (CORPS MILE 331.4) over the Calumet River will require a 4-hour advance notice for 2-leaf operations. Advance notice should be provided directly to the drawtender. A 10-foot-by-10-foot platform will be hung under the west leaf that hangs approximately 1-foot below low steel. After 1530, the bridge will be locked in the fully open to navigation position each day.

 

LAKE SUPERIOR – MN – Rainy River - International Falls – Chart 14998 – Bridge Regulation

The Coast Guard is altering the regulation for the Canadian National Railroad Bridge, mile 85.0, across the Rainy River to allow it to operate remotely. The bridge will continue to open on signal.
