SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

LAKE ERIE - BUFFALO HARBOR - Chart 14833

From 22-Oct to 31-Dec Sevenson Enviromental Services, INC will be conducting mechanical dredging and subaqueous capping in the Buffalo River and the Buffalo Inner Harbor, Buffalo NY. Hours of operation are from 0700 to 1930 Monday thru Friday. Vessel Shirley can be contacted on VHF channels 16 and 19. Several scows and work boats will be navigating through the Buffalo River and Inner Harbor to the USACE CDF. A turbidity curtain will be in the Buffalo River just north of the CSX railroad bridge. A 40’x60’ dredge platform will be spudded just north of the CSX railroad bridge. All mariners are requested to transit the area with caution.

 

LAKE MICHIGAN – WI – Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal – Chart 14919

From 01-Noc to 01-Jan Roen Salvage Company will be conducting mechanical maintenance dredging in the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, Sturgeon Bay, WI. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Tug John R. Arsher can be contacted on VHF channels 7 and 16. Dredging will be performed near Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Buoy 11. Barges will be traveling from the dredge to channel marker 7 on the SW side if the channel for offloading. During offloading the channel will be constricted to a width of 120 ft. all mariners are request to remain clear of dredging operations and transit the area with caution.76.
