SECTION V - ADVANCE NOTICES

This section contains advance notice of approved projects, changes to aids to navigation, or upcoming temporary changes such as dredging, etc. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

TX – HOUSTON SHIP CHANNEL – Houston Ship Channel – Cedar Bayou Channel

The Coast Guard will be making the following change after March 8, 2022: Change Cedar Bayou Channel Daybeacon 3 (LLNR-24620.01) to Cedar Bayou Channel Buoy 3 (LLNR-24620.01) in approximate position 29-41- 11.176N/094-58-38.226W, showing green can.

  

SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

FL - ST. ANDREW BAY - Partially Submerged Wreck

A barge approximately 60-foot in length has been reported partially submerged, in the vicinity of ST. Andrew Bay, approximately 500 yards east of Shell Island, in approximate position 30-06-40.7N 085-42-18.7W. The barge rests in approximately 6 feet of water. At high tide the barge sits just below the waterline with only a makeshift shack visible. Approximately 8 inches of the barge freeboard is visible at low tide. The wreck is reportedly not adrift and is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to avoid this area.

 

MS - MISSISSIPPI SOUND - PASCAGOULA CHANNEL - Exposed Pipeline

An exposed pipeline has been reported on the west side of the Pascagoula Channel approach, in approximate position 30-16-46.000N 088-31- 06.000W. The exposed pipeline is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to use caution while transiting the area.

 

LA - GULF OF MEXICO - Natural Gas Release

An unsecured natural gas release and oil spill has been reported in the vicinity of a platform in West Delta Block 80, in approximate position 28-58- 08.400N 089-30-00.600W. Mariners are advised to maintain a 1 nautical mile safe distance, until further notice.

 

LA - GIWW - PORT ALLEN ALTERNATE ROUTE - Lower Grand River - Bridge Repair Operations

The LA 77 drawbridge across the Lower Grand River, Port Allen Alternate Route, at Mile 47.0, WHL, Grosse Tete, LA., is being repaired on January 20, 2022. This bridge will not open to vessel traffic, from 6:00 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. Vessels should contact the bridge tender for updates to the repairs.

 

TX - ARANSAS BAY - Partially Submerged Pipeline

A 4-foot section of partially submerged dredge pipeline has been reported approximately 2 nautical miles southeast of the Lyndon B. Johnson Bridge, in Aransas Bay, in approximate position 28-05-28.2N 097-00-16.2W. The partially submerged dredge pipeline is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to avoid this area.

 

TX - CORPUS CHRISTI BAY - Partially Submerged Obstruction – UPDATE

A partially submerged rubber pipe, approximately 300 to 400 feet in length has been reported near Atlantic Cut, in Corpus Christi Bay, in approximate position 27-46-36.4N 097-08-06.7W. The rubber pipe is reportedly exposed during low tides and submerged during high tides. The pipe is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to use caution when transiting this area.
