SECTION VII – GENERAL
This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.
FL - GULF OF MEXICO - Underwater Equipment Testing Operations
Continuing until February 18, 2022, Naval Support Activity Panama City is conducting underwater equipment testing at Naval Support Activity Panama City Operations Area BA-5, bound by the following positions:
- North Corner: 30-09-13.800N 085-41-30.000W,
- East Corner: 30-09-25.500N 085-40-29.400W,
- South Corner: 30-07-27.600N 085-41-13.200W and
- West Corner: 30-08-30.000N 085-41-22.200W.
Mariners are restricted from transiting within the operating area during the test dates.
LA - GULF OF MEXICO - Beach Nourishment Operations – UPDATE
Attached as an enclosure to this LNM, notification from Weeks Marine, Inc., West Grand Terre Beach Nourishment Project (BA-0197) Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes, Louisiana.
LA - GIWW 14.7, EHL - Salvage Operations – UPDATE
Continuing until approximately February 15, 2022, from 7:00 a.m., until 5:00 p.m., each day, salvage operations are being conducted to remove a sunken hopper barge, at approximate position 30-00-33.912N 089-55-09.228W, on the GIWW, at Mile 14.7, EHL, along the southern side of the channel. Operations are expected to obstruct a portion of the navigational channel. Mariners are urged to give the operation a wide berth and transit at slowest safe speed to minimize wake. M/V MAC ANDREW MCKINNEY will monitor VHF-FM Channels 13 and 88A.
LA - GIWW - NEW ORLEANS - INNER HARBOR NAVIGATION CANAL LOCK - Lock Closure
The Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lock will have daytime closures to navigation beginning on Monday, February 7, 2022 and continuing through Friday, February 11, 2022, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., each day, to allow a U.S. Government Maintenance Unit to make necessary repairs to the canal end guidewall. LA - GIWW - MORGAN CITY-PORT ALLEN ALTERNATE ROUTE - Lock Closure
The Port Allen Lock is closed to navigation through February 6, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., to allow a U.S. Government Hired Labor Unit to make necessary repairs.
