Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 21-126, dated 3 November 2021, stating that the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge ALASKA will be working in the Atchafalaya Bay and Bar Channel from mile 140.0 to mile 157.0 until approximately 15 January 2022.

The dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will be monitoring VHF marine channels 13 and 16.  Dredged material will be deposited through a floating pipeline onto the disposal sites located along the Right Descending Bank (RDB) of the channel.

Besides dredging equipment, there are numerous work and support vessels associated with this dredging operation.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
