Greens Bayou to Sims Bayou | Pipeline Dredging

Dredge “MBI-08” (Contractor, Matthews Brothers Dredge, Inc.) will be operating in the Houston Ship Channel between the Houston Ship Channel Turning Basin to Beacon 152 and the entrance of Greens Bayou Channel to the first bend above the mouth of Greens Bayou. Dredge MBI-08 floating plant (barges, tugboats, survey boat, and skiffs) will be used in/around this work area which will be accompanied by a tugboat, Grandann, along with two scows named Jackson Foster and Liesl. The unloading site is located at Sims Bayou Staging Area and the dredged material will be placed in Rosa Allen Placement Area. The Contractor’s floating and submerged pipelines (does not cross any shipping channel) begins at the unloading site which run from the Sims Bayou Staging Area to Rosa Allen Placement Area.

Expected completion date of October 6, 2022.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.

Dredging operations are continuous, 24 hrs., 7 days, unless otherwise indicated.

Communications is to be accomplished via VHF Channel 13, 21a, and 76. The Traffic Center guards Channel 13 on a 24-hour basis. Respective dredge(s) should be contacted for coordination of passing and movement near operations.
