Notice to Navigators: Illinois River
IRCA: LaGrange/Peoria Wickets
IRCA Members & Guests,
Good morning. I’m hearing that a vessel is aground in the vicinity of Beardstown. Normal Pool at Beardstown is 9.1’. This morning at 0745, the Beardstown Gauge was reported at 8.77’.
Crews at LaGrange are currently going out to raise wickets. This will certainly help build pool at Beardstown to get the river back into and above Normal Pool, but the wickets being up at LaGrange could be short-lived based upon the rain in the forecast for Wednesday.
The river forecast going into the weekend suggested that Peoria could drop their wickets by tomorrow. Not surprisingly, Mother Nature decided otherwise, and this morning’s forecast shows Peoria keeping their dam up throughout all of this week. Of course, this could change based upon the amount of rainfall that the region receives later this week.
I’ll keep an eye on the weather and river forecasts and send any updates as they develop.
Best regards,
Jeremy “Shot” Tardy
