SECTION I - SPECIAL NOTICES

This section contains information of special concern to the Mariner.

 

ILLINOIS WATERWAY - CHANNEL CONDITION/SAFETY ADVISORY – UPDATE

The following zones are in the high-water watch phase in accordance with the Illinois Waterway Action Plan Annex:

  • Beardstown (Mile 101.9 – Mile 80.3) and
  • Havana (Mile 128.9 – Mile 102.0).

Mariners should exercise caution and minimize wake in all high-water zones. The laying-up on saturated levees is prohibited. Mariners should be experienced in high water conditions and avoid down-streaming operations. Mariners should remain vigilant to an increase in debris and maneuver appropriately. Be aware that a buildup of debris in fleeting areas may have occurred and take appropriate action to prevent barge breakaways. Exercise caution in all passing/meeting situations as swift current may be present. Navigation buoys may have been dragged off station, so remain alert while transiting. Recreational traffic is discouraged.

 

SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

MILE 286.0 - L/D CLOSURE – UPDATE

On March 17, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., the Brandon Road L/D in the vicinity of mile 286.0, will be closed for maintenance. During the scheduled closure, no vessels will be able to pass through the affected lock. Recreational and commercial vessels will be able to navigate within the Pools without restriction. Mariners are requested not to tie up along the guide walls during this period unless instructed by lock staff. MILE 173.0 - CHANNEL CONDITION

Shoaling has been reported in the vicinity of Mile 173.0. Mariners are urged to transit the area with caution.
