NOTICE TO MARINERS
LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER

LNM 37-21

 

SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MILE 95.0, AHOP - Wharf Repair

Continuing until approximately December 31, 2021, APC Construction, LLC., are conducting construction operations at the Bienville St. Wharf and Canal St. Ferry Terminal along the Lower Mississippi River, at Mile 95.0, AHOP, LDB. Operations will be conducted from 7:00 a.m., to 7:00 p.m., 7- days a weeks. Operations will include installation of temporary ferry berthing at Bienville St. Wharf, and demolition of the pedestrian walkway/vehicle ramp and modification of the mooring dolphins at the Canal St. Ferry Terminal. M/V GEORGE C., and M/V ANDREW C., will be on[1]scene and monitoring VHF-FM Channels 10 and 67. Mariners are urged to use caution and minimize wake when transiting the area. LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MILE 101.5, AHOP, LDB - Subaqueous Placement Operations

Commencing approximately September 20, 2021 and continuing through approximately November 19, 2021, a U.S. Government Contractor will be placing subaqueous stone along the LDB, of the Lower Mississippi River, at approximate Mile 101.5, AHOP. The contractor will work 7-days a week, 10-hours a day, during daylight hours. The plant will include an anchor barge with hydraulic backhoe. An office barge and various material barges will be on-site, staged along the river at this location. During nighttime hours, the contractors floating plant will be staged along the LDB, out of the Lower Mississippi River Channel. The M/V MISS NINA can be contacted on VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16, or at (318) 452-0183. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MILE 114.0, AHOP - Submerged Obstruction

A submerged obstruction has been reported on Lower Mississippi River, near Mile 114.0, AHOP, LDB, in approximate position 29-58-24.7N 090-15- 54.5W, covered by approximately 8 feet of water. The submerged obstruction is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution when transiting the area.

 

LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER - MILE 187.4, AHOP - Construction Operations

Commencing approximately October 14, 2021 and continuing until approximately November 15, 2021, Denbury, Inc., will be have construction equipment on the Lower Mississippi River, near Mile 187.4, AHOP. The project consists of protecting an exposed section of 20-inch pipeline and stabilizing the bank to prevent further erosion. Mariners are urged to use caution when transiting this area.
