NOTICE TO MARINERS
LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER
SECTION VII – GENERAL
This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.
LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MILE 255.5, AHOP - USACE Operations
Continuing until approximately January 22, 2022, from 6:00 a.m., until 7:00 p.m., each day, the USACE is conducting operations on the Lower Mississippi River near Grand Bay, at Mile 255.5, AHOP. During work, traffic is limited to one way traffic with possible restrictions to large southbound tows. Towing vessels are advised to make passing arrangements by contacting M/V HARRISON or M/V WILLIAM JAMES via VHF-FM Channels 67 or 82.
MILE 390.0 - MILE 386.0 - RIP-RAP PLACEMENT
Upon completion of rip-rap placement between approximate Miles 514.0 and 511.0, and continuing until approximately February 25, 2022, Bertucci Contracting Company is conducting rip-rap placement between approximate Miles 390.0 and 386.0, LDB, Cottage Bend Dike. The M/V BARBARA ANN is the contact vessel and will monitor VHF-FM Channel 16 or 72. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed to minimize their wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. MILE 255.5 - USACE PROJECT/VESSEL RESTRICTIONS
Continuing until approximately January 22, 2022, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., each day, the USACE will be operating in the vicinity of Mile 255.5, Grand Bay. Vessel traffic in the area will be restricted to one-way with additional restrictions possible for large southbound tows. Mariners are advised to make passing arrangements with the M/V HARRISON or the M/V WILLIAM JAMES via VHF-FM Channel 67 or 82. Mariners are urged to exercise caution in the area.
MILE 234.0 - DREDGE OPERATION
Continuing until approximately February 1, 2022, the U.S. Government Contract Dredge CAPTAIN FRANK is conducting dredging operations in the vicinity of Mile 234.0, Baton Rouge Harbor. Work will be conducted 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. The Dredge CAPTAIN FRANK will monitor VHFFM Channel 13 or 16. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed to minimize their wake and proceed with caution.
