SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

MILE 947.0 - MILE 949.0 - AIDS TO NAVIGATION

Multiple buoys have been reported missing between approximate Mile 947.0 and 949.0. Mariners are urged to exercise caution in the area.

 

MILE 962.0 - MILE 966.0 - AIDS TO NAVIGATION

Multiple buoys have been reported missing between approximate Mile 962.0 and 966.0. Mariners are urged to exercise caution in the area.

 

MILE 964.6 - L/D RESTRICTIONS

Vessel traffic has been transitioned to the lock chambers at the Olmsted L/D in the vicinity of Mile 964.6, due to receding river levels. Down-bound tow maximum dimensions are 108 feet by 1,200 feet, including the towboat, with no more than 15 regulation barges and not to exceed 3 wide. No hip barges or other deviation that could degrade normal steerage characteristics are allowed for down-bound tows. Up-bound tow maximum dimensions are 108 feet by 1,200 feet, including the towboat, with no more than 16 regulation barges and not to exceed 3 wide. All mariners shall take direction from the Olmsted L/D Control Tower.
