Notice to Navigators: Potomac River

Safety Zone; Potomac River, Between Charles County, MD and King George County, VA

Effective Date: 7 a.m. on January 3, 2022, through 8 p.m. on January 15, 2022

 

The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone for certain waters of the Potomac River. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of persons, and the marine environment from the potential safety hazards associated with construction operations at the new Governor Harry W. Nice/Senator Thomas “Mac” Middleton Memorial (US-301) Bridge, which will occur from 7 a.m. on January 3, 2022, through 8 p.m. on January 15, 2022. This rule will prohibit persons and vessels from being in the safety zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port, Maryland-National Capital Region or a designated representative.

 

This rule is effective without actual notice from December 17, 2021 through January 15, 2022. For the purposes of enforcement, actual notice will be issued from December 13, 2021 until December 17, 2021.
