NOTICE TO MARINERS
SOUTHEAST RIVERS

SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

 

 CUMBERLAND RIVER

 MILE 164.0 - MILE 151.0 - SPILL DRILL EXERCISE

The COTP Ohio Valley advises all mariners that a spill drill exercise will take place, from Miles 164.0 to 151.0, on March 30, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mariners are urged to use caution and maintain a proper lookout when transiting the area. For more information, mariners may contact the event manager, at (502) 645-3070.

 

MILE 30.6 - L/D INSPECTION/REPAIR/TEMPORARY CLOSURES

Continuing until March 27, 2022, inspection/repair of the Barkley L/D in the vicinity of Mile 30.6, will be conducted. The L/D will be closed from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., each day. The lock will open from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., each day, to allow transits. The Kentucky L/D in the vicinity of Mile 22.4, Tennessee River, will remain open to facilitate vessel transits. Mariners may contact the Barkley L/D at (270) 362-4222, for additional information.

 

MILE 9.1 - CHANNEL CONDITION/L/D CLOSURE – UPDATE

High water conditions have lessened at L/D 1, in the vicinity of Mile 9.1. The L/D has reopened.

 MOBILE RIVER

 AL - MOBILE RIVER - THREE MILE CREEK - Dredge Operation

Commencing April 1, 2022 and continuing until further notice, the Dredge E. STROUD will begin maintenance dredging operations in the Mobile River, in the vicinity of Three Mile Creek. The dredge will be placing material in the upland disposal areas adjacent to the channel. The dredge can be contacted on VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16. For further information, mariners can contact the USACE Irvington Site Office, at (251) 957-6019. Mariners should exercise extreme caution when transiting these areas.

 

TENNESSEE RIVER

 MILE 567.5 - AID TO NAVIGATION

A can buoy in the vicinity of Mile 567.5, has been reported not properly marking the channel. Mariners are urged to transit the area with caution.
