SECTION I – SPECIAL NOTICES

This section contains information of special concern to the Mariner. 

UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER - CHANNEL CONDITION/COTP SAFETY ADVISORY – UPDATE

Water levels have returned to normal. The COTP Upper Mississippi River Safety Advisory for Zones 28 and 29, has been cancelled.

 

SECTION VII – GENERAL

This section contains information of general concern to the Mariners. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas.

MILE 397.2 - MILE 396.9 - DREDGE OPERATION – UPDATE

The M/V LAURA K., has completed dredging operations/strike removal between approximate Miles 397.2 and 396.9, Burlington Island.

MILE 290.0 - MILE 289.0 - CHANNEL CONDITION

Shoaling has been reported between approximate Miles 290.0 and 289.0. Mariners are urged to exercise caution in the area.

MILE 182.7 - DREDGE OPERATION/RIVER CLOSURE

On December 27-28, 2021, the Dredge POTTER will conduct dredging operations in the vicinity of Mile 182.7. Work will be conducted 24-hours a day. A river closure, to facilitate this operation, commencing 5:00 p.m., December 27, 2021, is anticipated. Dredge spoils will be pumped through pontoon pipeline or self-floating pipeline, which may cross the navigation channel, with placement of spoils outside of the navigation channel. The Dredge POTTER will monitor VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.

MILE 181.0 - DREDGE OPERATION

On December 23, 2021, the Dredge POTTER will conduct dredging operations in the vicinity of Mile 181.0. Dredge spoils will be pumped through pontoon pipeline or self-floating pipeline, which may cross the navigation channel, with placement of spoils outside of the navigation channel. The Dredge POTTER will monitor VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.

MILE 110.5 - DREDGE OPERATION

Commencing January 5, 2022 and continuing until January 8, 2022, the Dredge POTTER will conduct dredging operations in the vicinity of Mile 110.5. Work will be conducted 24-hours a day. Dredge spoils will be pumped through pontoon pipeline or self-floating pipeline, which may cross the navigation channel, with placement of spoils outside of the navigation channel. The Dredge POTTER will monitor VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.

MILE 46.5 - DREDGE OPERATION

Commencing December 29, 2021 and continuing until approximately January 5, 2022, the Dredge POTTER will be conducting dredging operations in the vicinity of Mile 46.5. Work will be conducted 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Dredge spoils will be pumped through pontoon pipeline or selffloating pipeline, which may cross the navigation channel, with placement of spoils outside of the navigation channel. The Dredge POTTER will monitor VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
