Ohio EPA grants for freight handling equipment and locomotives

Ohio EPA invites grant applications from owners of aging diesel cargo handling equipment, airport ground support equipment, and freight switcher locomotives operating in 26 eligible counties.   Grants of between $50,000 and $2 million are available for up to 75% of the cost to replace or repower the diesel equipment with new all-electric equipment or all-electric and alternative-fueled switcher locomotives.  Grant applications must be submitted online in Ohio EPA’s Customer Support Center no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022.   The “2022 Request for Applications” posted on the grant program website includes information on eligibility, application requirements, and attachments that will need to be uploaded with the application.

Ohio EPA will host two informational webinars for prospective applicants, Tuesday June 21 at 11:00 a.m., and Wednesday June 22 at 2:30 p.m.  Access information is available on the program website. Pre-registration is not required.   Questions and Answers from the webinars will be posted to this site, and updated periodically during the June-August window while the grant cycle is open.  Questions may also be emailed to me or to derg@epa.ohio.gov.  We are happy to discuss project ideas with anyone interested!
