The Claiborne County Port Commission (Port Gibson, MS) is seeking an outstanding individual to serve as Port Director.

The goal of the Claiborne County Port is to be an economic engine, public asset, and utility for the region. Located in Claiborne County, Mississippi, the Port is an undeveloped shallow draft Port located along the Mississippi River that proposes to provide the transportation needs for water-oriented industries and associated landside infrastructure in Claiborne County and the region.

The director will provide leadership to the Commission to facilitate the future development of the Port, which includes business development, marketing, and sales. The director will also manage and maintain all existing Port properties and all additions, improvements, or extension to such properties. He/she will assist the Board of Directors with establishing and implementing short and long term goals and objectives. He/she monitors and evaluates the performance of the Port’s operations to ensure that it is following the Port’s mission, policies, and goals. The Director performs a wide range of duties including (but not limited to):

  • Manage Planning and Development Activities.
  • Maintain a working relationship between State and Federal Agencies.
  • Manage Tenant and Cargo Services
  • Monitor Regulatory Compliance, Safety and Security Issues.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and four years of related work experience. As the representative of the Port, the director must be an excellent presenter with excellent oral and written communication skills. He/she must also be operationally oriented and knowledgeable with excellent management and people skills.
